How To Get Your Toddler To Eat Well

Toddlers are notoriously picky eaters. Not a parent exists that hasn’t worried about their toddlers eating habits at one time or another.

Some worry their toddlers aren’t eating enough, others worry that their toddlers are eating too much, and still others worry that their toddlers aren’t eating a wide enough variety of different foods.

The good news is that if you do things right, you can set your toddler on a path to good eating indefinitely.

How do you do it?

First and foremost, know that when it comes to eating most toddlers are just learning about food, and just starting to develop habits.

You don’t want to force food on your toddler at any time, or suggest that they clean their plate or take just one last bite of anything.

Why? This may set them up for a lifetime of food struggles.

Rather, the best way to support good eating habits is to have available at all times a variety of healthy foods in your home.

Generally as long as toddlers eat one or two items from each food group within a 2-3 day time frame, they are doing well.

Here are some other things you can do to encourage healthy eating habits:

Eat as a Family – This may not be possible every day of the week, but at least 1-2 days per week you should encourage your family to gather together around the table for a good, wholesome meal. Include lots of different foods that are healthy and nutritious. Toddlers learn by example, and watching other family members eat and interact in an inviting environment will encourage your toddler to do the same as time goes on.

Don’t Require Your Toddler to Clean His Plate – This is a common well intentioned mistake some parents make. Toddlers eating habits are peculiar, but they do know when they are hungry. Forcing them to finish food they can’t or won’t eat will only result in power struggles and potentially problems with food later in life.

Keep the Refrigerator Stocked with Healthy Snacks – If you don’t have dozens of cookies laying about the house your toddler will be less likely to eat them. That said allow your toddler some sweet treats when they are visiting relatives or a friend’s house. Just remember to keep sweets to a minimum at your house.

Cook a Variety of Foods – If you normally cook fish twice a week, your child will become accustomed to it as part of their routine.

It will be much easier to convince your toddler to try new things if they are an ordinary part of your diet, then if out of the blue you decide to try new foods that are unusual or generally unappealing.

As your toddler grows and develops they will eventually develop more routine eating habits. In the meantime simply providing healthy alternatives and variety in their diet is a great way to jump start a healthy diet.

Hints

Unlike computer prints photobooks will last for many generations. A photo book of family events or a holiday presents a personal memorybook. Less is More

Especially when images from several sources are being used (from friends cameras, mobile phones etc) it can be helpful to copy the image selection into a separate folder. Less is more applies for digital photo books, too. So skip poor or uninteresting images, as they will bore the spectator in a few years time. You may prepare some pages with many smaller images in scrapbook style and other pages with very few or even just a single image spreading over a double page, giving the reader a rest. Remember that preparing a coffee table style photo book is in now way different from publishing a book, which requires some proof reading, too.

Image editing

Avoid using hundreds of high-resolution images in one book as the computer might struggle with processing many large images. 200 ppi (in the corresponding format) is enough, it is not necessary to use jpegs larger than 1.5 MB, for most photos half a megabyte jpeg will do. Prepare entire pages as jpegs in Photoshop or other advanced editing packages to import these as a full page (page background) into the photo book.

Which service to use

Both services use software which needs to be downloaded and installed. This allows preparing the photo book offline in several sessions and optimizing the finished lay-out before uploading it for printing. Users who only want to make small books and are not comfortable with installing software may have a look at iPhoto, Snapfish or Kodak which offer a web browser based service. This however can not be recommended for larger, more elaborate books. The free software applications provided by the photo book printing services compared above use a different approach each and preference may depend on circumstances (e.g. Mac) and objectives (e.g. flexible lay-out, online sharing, time). Both FotoInsight as well as Printing-1 provide well printed and very enjoyable photo books.

A Banksy canvas print makes a wonderful decorative addition to any space, either in the home or place of work. The canvas print industry has evolved in the last ten years and it is now possible to purchase a canvas print of a chosen image to match the décor of the space that you care to put it in. Size is no stumbling block either, since many companies can accommodate requests for large canvas prints.

So who is this Banksy character then? The answer to this question is that nobody really knows, although the UK newspaper The Daily Mail have claimed to “out” him.

It is unquestionable that Banksy is from the Bristol area. According to the Daily Mail, he is from a place called Yate which is a small town just a few miles north of Bristol. The housing boom in the 80′s and 90′s and rapid enlargement of new housing developments in Bristol has effectively “merged” Yate as part of Bristol. The Daily Mail claimed that Banksy’s real name is Robin Banks. That’s a great name in itself and you could even be forgiven that this “real” name is made up There can be no doubt that Banksy is from Bristol as the majority of his urban graffiti works began in Bristol and are sprinkled around the city. In fact, if you took a short tour around the city centre you would almost certainly spot at least half a dozen works of “art” in areas such as Stokes Croft, Park Row and Park Street to name but a few.

Banksy’s work has taken him around the UK and abroad. Many of his “famous” pieces are in London and there are other works attributed to him much further afield.

Quite apart from the mystery of “who is Banksy?”, another mystery remains, namely, “how has Banksy never been spotted?”. It is commonly understood that he has a very loyal team working for him which serves to keep him undercover. It is quite possible that Banksy’s “works” are actually created by a team of people working together, or alternatively, different individuals at different sites. The individual “Banksy” may not even exist at all. Nobody really knows, but as with all “mysteries” the actual truth would wreck the myth and the publicity would vanish. People are fascinated by the “unexplained” and it is perhaps better it stays that way.

There can be no doubt that the works of art that Banksy attributes himself to are humorous, ironic and thought-provoking. Photographs of these works are available as canvas prints and you can hang one of these graffiti works in your living room to admire.

Many people are familiar with those photos of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elvis, and Humphrey Bogart all sitting together in a diner or at a bar, enjoying a drink. We all know that these are not real photographs, but instead several different photos that were used to create this one, unique art work. Someone took the time to place all of these people together so that it formed a different type of art work that many retro art lovers fell for. How about those that love abstract art, yet don’t want to pay the high prices for those beautiful canvas prints? Believe it or not, it is easy to create your own abstract art with photos on canvas.

When you really think about it, the process is simple. Abstract art is just how it sounds – abstract. Things don’t have to line up perfectly, they don’t have to match, and they don’t even have to have a theme. You can take some of your favorite photographs and turn them into abstract art with a little cut and paste.
